Level 1 Course Saturday 27 March  2010

Due once again mainly to the fantastic sponsorship afforded to this Association by the Newcastle and Hunter Youth Development Trust, we had 14 new members completing their Level 1 on this day.

We now have some 35 new members of the Association this year. Please ensure we all play our part in welcoming these new members on board and ensuring their refereeing is assisted in any way possible by all involved.

Training

Training is going well and I am sure all those that have been able to attend will attest to the great job Ben is doing. Members, there is a lot of time and preparation put in to these sessions and please bear in mind that we are incorporating skill sessions into them. That makes it all the more crucial for younger members of the Association to make a real effort to attend where they at all possibly can.

Presence at Training.

Members, we are all aware that this has been an area of concern for many years. Please be assured that training will be skill and drill based and that I will be in attendance to assist in running training but more importantly for you guys to have real access to me for feedback and discussion as required.

Please again be well aware that I am noting efforts and performance levels in these training sessions.

Meeting Attendance

Members please remember that it is a clear expectation that where possible you attend the monthly meetings of the Association. These meetings are a critical ingredient in keeping abreast of what is happening both within the Association and coaching wise, as well as being the best place to ask any questions you may have. It is the time and place where Junior Members can gain a lot of knowledge.

If you cannot attend meetings, please ensure an apology is forwarded to the CEO John Stevens prior to the meeting. From now on, all General meetings will be at 6.30pm on the 4th Tuesday of the month with Board of Management meeting at 5.30pm. Wallsend Diggers will be the venue.

Fixtures

Members, with 165 active referees now my task in completing appointments is very time consuming. Please be aware of the following:

·        If you are aware you are going to be unavailable, let me know straight away.

·        In relation to doing fixtures once appointed, I accept things are going to happen. However we all need to remember that we are letting not only your peers down but the players involved if we do not referee any given day.

·        What should not happen is for fixtures to be swapped or changed without my knowledge. If for whatever reason you do not do a fixture, it is not up to you to organise a replacement without it coming through me first. There have been several instances of this already and further will not be tolerated.

·         IF YOU CANNOT DO A FIXTURE, LET THE ROM KNOW IMMEDIATELY SO IT CAN BE RESOLVED.NO ONE ELSE CONTROLS FIXTURES OTHER THAN ME AS THE ROM. If you have any doubt or concerns around this, please contact me directly on 0488 636 501.

·        Be aware that if you are out injured, there will be an expectation that fitness to return will need to be evidenced, and this has already played out with a Grade referee.

Availability Forms sent out by CEO

·        Please note that these are required for all members as we update our records and are required asap. Please post or scan and email document with signature on it. Both this version and the straight availability form that the ROM requires are available on the Association web site.

·        Please also note that a Member Protection Declaration Form is required to be signed by all new members in the last twelve months and anyone who has not signed one at this stage. Please contact the CEO John Stevens or you can download the form from the following link http://www.sportingpulse.com/assoc_page.cgi?c=1-7492-0-0-0&sID=158645 and print out the Member Protection form. Please note it is required to be signed by all members, with those that are under 18 requiring a parent’s signature as well.

 Other Information.

·        New communication equipment will be available very shortly for Grade when it is received.

·        Members, please be mindful of the need for all referees to be meeting the Code of Conduct and Safe play at all times when officiating at fixtures.

·        Please ensure that pay sheets are completed where required for fixtures and lodged.

·        Make sure you are aware of the fees you are to be paid from the website.

·        I remain available for 1/1 discussions with any member who has issues appointment wise or anything to do with on field refereeing. I hope members are taking full advantage of this access as required and the presence of senior members at Junior fixtures which is fantastic.

Cheers
